After Us, The Flood
2023
Moving Image
'We are trying to anticipate something inside which we already find ourselves.' Hyperobjects are distributed massively in time and space, remaining incomprehensible to us. In our current climate crisis, we experience ecological objects through a structure called The Stack (assessing the world as data) while these hyperobjects are continuously expanding. This project recreates the tension between human and non-human perspectives as the frame through which we experience an object is shrinking while the hyperobject - the river Thames is expanding as sea levels rise due to an increase in the Earth's temperature. This is played out as a PTSD dream where nature is reclaiming its space.
